Nestled close to Old Town Alexandria is Royal Restaurant. I believe they recently made updates to the restaurant with a new patio. They have their own parking lot and there's also lots of street parking options. The service was good and their smash burgers were divineee. I could've eaten 5 of them. I definitely want to check out their happy hour as it gets warmer too. I'm curious about their signature espresso martini and can't wait to give it a try next time.

Service was good, sat outside and heaters kept you warm-definitely a nice Saturday morning. Had French toast-not as good (soggy middle) as the first time I had it. Royal breakfast good-love the 3 sausages ( a little too greasy) . Had coffee w/cream sugar-love the cups n saucers. Second poured cup was cold , had to wait for new pot. Nice place.

First time visiting Royal Restaurant and it won't be the last. We really enjoyed the food. I had the pancakes and my niece had a burger and fries. The fries were to die for, thin and crispy. The pancakes were light and filling. Our server was super friendly.

Nice corner spot in Old Town, have been going by it for years & decided to try today. Super friendly greeting & conversation by the Hostess. Seated quickly in nice dining area near bar. Plenty of room inside (seating not over crowded). Easy to read menu, with unique breakfast selections to more traditional. Our waiter was also doing bartending duties, I think somebody was late. He was friendly and answered our questions about the menu and seemed to be handling both his duties well. My wife and I had some more walking to do so we decided to split the breakfast burrito. It was plenty for us and even felt we had a little room to try one of the delicious looking cakes displayed on the bar. Burrito could have been a solid 5 - I loved the concept, the flavors were there, the cheese wrapped around the tortilla was delicious with a little crunch. The green sauce around it was awesome. Only complaint was that it was served on a skillet and expecting a little suzzle, but it was not really warm. If warmer, it would have been a 5 ++. The cake looked amazing, but was a little dry, frosting was delicious. My wife barely ate any so I tried to finish, I cannot waste any cake, not even dry cake- LOL The additional help arrived during the meal, she was also great. Coffee was hot and stayed full. Our burrito was brought out on separate skillets which was really nice of them as we did not expect that. We will be back, want to try the New Jersey dish. We will probably resist the cake.

It was my friend's birthday, so of course we needed weekday brunch! The Royal Restaurant in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia has the best service. Everyone there is extremely sweet and accommodating. Their twist on a Caesar salad was a pleasant surprise, the burger was cheese and delicious, and the chocolate cake was so moist.

The food here is incredible. The first time I was here, I came with as friend for breakfast. I had a crispy delicious salad with fluffy eggs. My friend had syrupy fluffy pancakes. I had to come back. I was shocked/delighted to see that they had a fabulous nicely decorated outdoor space too. Came with two friends visiting from out of town and the stroganoff that my friend hand arrived in this beautiful bowl that you could definitely see the bottom of when he was done. Hubby had this sweet and savory bbq sandwich that I kept going back for more. Next time I'm ordering either of those two dishes. If you go,check out the decorated bathroom. The tiles are beautiful.

Great experience at Royal Restaurant! We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was very attentive and friendly. She recommended several food items. The shrimp and grits were full of flavor with plenty large shrimps. It was different than other shrimp and grits I've tried, better. The burrito was huge and delicious. The pancakes were fluffy and soft. Truly enjoyed them. We will definitely visit again!

Popped into Royal Restaurant on a Sunday morning and boy was I in for a treat! I would recommend getting reservations as it is a very popular location on the weekends, but luckily the hostess was able to find us a seat as a last minute walk-in. They had an are indoor dining area but as well as a pretty large covered Outdoor eating area. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. We got a coffee, French toast and the oatmeal pancakes with a few sides. The food came out very promptly, hot, fresh, and with so much food we were both unable to finish it though we wanted to keep eating. I highly recommend this place and hope to start making this my new local spot on the weekends!

Stopped by with a friend, and was thoroughly impressed by the kind service and large portions. We tried the chili cheese fries on the happy hour menu, along with the stroganoff and smash burger, per our server Christine's suggestions. The seating is spacious, and I liked the touch of plants around the restaurant. Only note is that the food is a bit too salty - otherwise great and excited to try their all day breakfast items next time.

Last night, we made our first visit to the Royal since its remodel. It looks pretty good and we like the new outside deck. Aside from it being a gorgeous evening, we chose to eat outside because the inside was set to the lowest temperature I have ever encountered in a restaurant. What the... Service was excellent. The dinner menu has a bar food/Latino emphasis. We both ordered the Meatloaf Melt. This is an outstanding and delicious sandwich. However, the flavor of the shoestring garlic-epazote fries was offputting and I shoved them to the side.
